This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Daniel C. Stover patent, dated May 1, 1877. This wire is called “Stover’s Two-Point Shoulder Barb on Slow Twisted Flat Line”, by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 103-B VARIATION) – Hagemeier shows an oval line – I could find no listing for the flattened round line.). This wire features a single heavy gauge line wire. Line is round with two flat sides. Line is twisted to give about one-quarter turn between barbs. Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a round barbing wire one and one half times around the line wire, and then bending point back in line to create a shoulder and lock barb to line. This sample is 18-1/4″ in length and has four barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, but cut is not properly centered. Wire shows age wear, with moderate pitting,. There is some light bending of points, but no broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in in good used condition. There are no off odors.
