Antique Leather Horse Parade Heart Breast Plate Martingale Red RR Like Medallion
Offered for your consideration is this Antique Leather Heart Shaped Horse Parade Breast Plate ? aka Martingale ? with 3 Red Railroad-Like Flashy Medallions (sorry that I do not know the right words of what to call these round things, but they remind me of the old Railroad Sign Crossing Flashers…little raised bubble like circlets & none of them broken out or missing or flat). Not sure what else I need to try to explain. The old leather is still somewhat pliable but it is stiffer & could sure use an oiling. I would guess the age of this to be from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The leather straps can be lengthened or shortened by all 3 buckles. A magnet does not stick to the buckle that goes down between the legs to the girth? But a magnet does stick to the other 2 buckles above & also to the middle ring. When I lay it flat on the floor it measures approx. 52” long but it could be made longer or shorter than that by adjusting the straps. I hope this all makes sense to someone. In my humble opinion this is in fantastic condition for its age.
