This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called “Glidden’s Two Point with Kansas Limestone Post Square Nail Staple”, by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 316-B VARIATION) (Hagemeier does not show the square nail staple). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping round arbing stock twice around one line wire. This line was then twisted with the barbless line with the barbless holding barbs in place. This sample also has a Limestone Post square nail staple. A hole was drilled into the limestone post, where the attachement was desired. A square nail then had its smaller end bent and clinched to line wires. Head of nail was inserted into the drilled hole, and then wedged in place by driving a second square nail pointed in first into the hole. This sample is 18″ in length and has 4 barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, but are not well centered in cut. Nail is centered in cut. Wire shows age wear, with light to moderate pitting, and some bending of barbs. There are no broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors.

I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice … using the buy it now option. First wire ships for $4.50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
